Look out! There's a problem with some of these grills that can cause a fire. There've been at least two recalls plus the consumer complaints listed below.
On Thanksgiving, while using the grill, the holes that lead to the controls, caught fire and melted. it was my third time using it, since I purchase it from Home Depot West Colonial store in Orlando, Florida. I was told to report the incident to the manufacturer, to see if they will replace the grill, or replace the parts. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. I'll be pursuing this to the Better Businesses Bureau.

11/30/11I bought charmglow gourmet series. Within a 2 year period, it became so rusted and cracked. It is unusable. I spent over $900.00 for a very poor product. Fire was shooting out of the burner tubes.

11/11/11Very poor. Bought the charmglo stainless steel BBQ at home depot. Never really worked well. Just saw the recall, never contacted. No longer can use the bbq. it is unsafe.
gary of cadiz, KY

10/31/11Ditto with everyone else's comments. Started to replace burners this weekend and there is nothing to secure new burners to. We all got ripped off. My wife asked me, "Didn't we just buy this grill?"
Mike of Lexington, KY

10/10/11Charmglow 720-0234 burner tubes has been rusting out in under two years. It is dangerous and the grill is unusable.

10/10/11Related:Brinkmann, Charmglow Gas Grills Recalled|Best Gas Grills For Under $500|Gas Grills Ignite Consumers' Ire ... and Their Decks I was surprised to hear all of these complaints. I was looking online to see if there was a cheap replacement igniter as one of the burners doesn't ignite very well. I purchased my Charmglow 3+1 Gas Grill in early 2007, I believe, and have used it quite a lot with really no problems. The rotisserie did not fit exactly out of the box, but I just had to add two screws to keep the motor from riding too low on the bracket. Other than that, it works great and I'm using it now. The only thing I wish was better is if the burners would be a little lower heat on the lowest setting.I wonder if some of the rust issues are from high humidity or excessive cleaning. The burners and plates are steel, so every time you clean them you remove the protective oxide (rust) layer and they have to produce more. That's just the way the way steel works. Maybe I'm just lucky I live in a low humid area.Anyway, I just thought I should add my two cents.

10/10/11Imagine my surprise when I found out that so many other consumers have had the same experience as we did. The Charmglow 4 burner $299.00 we bought in 2008 was beyond repair. The tubes had rusted. So, gas was leaking and flames shot out of the handles. It was a very dangerous situation and we had to trash it. I never received any notice of recalls on this product. I am extremely dissatisfied that something that cost $300 didn't even last 4 years. We took good care of it, kept it covered, and even had replaced the grills last year. But the engineering of this grill made it impossible to replace the gas pipe tubes.

10/5/11I paid $400 at Home Depot for a Charmglow Model 810-8500-S Heavy Duty-Grill that was supposed to have stainless steel burners in March 2008. By the beginning of the summer of 2011, the burners, heat plates, and brackets were almost rusted through, even though the grill had been kept out of the weather. Charmglow did send replacement burners, but we had to re-drill the brackets. The electronic ignition no longer works. They want over $60 for new heat distribution plates. It is very cheaply made, and I will never buy another Charmglow.

9/26/11We bought a Charmglow Barbecue Model No. 720-0396 from Home Depot. Shooting flames are coming out from the back of the barbecue. Our burners have also rusted and disintegrated. How can we get this resolved?
Rick of Reno, NV

9/26/11I bought my 720-0396 Charmglow Grill in 2008 and it is completely rusted out and unserviceable, following mild residential use. I too am interested in a class action suit if one is in the offing.
Bruce of Nokesville, VA

9/26/11I also bought a "stainless steel" Charmglow (Model: 810-2320-B) about three years ago. This thing rusted completely inside the first year--burners, heath plate, and burner holders! Now, everything is just iron dust. My question is, out of hundreds of complains, is this company or Home Depot doing something about it? This is a plain and simple swindle by both of them. I want a replacement!
miguel of waxahachie, TX

9/25/11I purchased Charmglow Gourmet Series - Chef's Island Grill on 3/31/07 for $999. Within three years, it was rusting out becoming unusable. I've been searching for a way to refurbish it, as we like the faux stone cabinet it was built into. No luck. Now, I'm going to attempt getting some recourse through the warranty process, yet with the receipt being nearly unreadable, I don't hold high hopes of this working. They appear to be part of Brinkman, and my neighbors bought a Brinkman grill which rusted out within 1.5 years. I'll never buy another Brinkman, Charmglow or any other related product as I haven't yet heard any good stories about their products.
Marshall of Poway, CA

9/22/11Well I had just noticed all the complaints sounded exactly the same as mine. My Charmglow was actually a gift for the new home. Important parts rusted out within a year's time. I think it's a manufacturing scam/deal, to make money from charmglow parts. Did anyone check out the prices of the main parts needed, I mean all of the rusted out parts. We're only purchasing the name of the quality, not the actual quality that the name Charmglow promises.
Jerome of Granada Hills, CA

9/20/11My experience with my Charmglow Grill has been excellent. I bought the double hood model, 810-7420-S, at Home Depot last 5/26/2007 for $299. Being able to use just one half of the grill works great when my wife and I grill a steak for ourselves. But when we have guests, we still have plenty of room to grill 10 or more steaks. After 4 years of use, the ignitor finally quit working but the burner ports are all intact and works good.I do notice that the grille heats up much faster than an oven and gets up to 400 degrees in less than 5 minutes. Once we let it warms up for 10-15 minutes beforehand, the hood handle gets so hot that I need a glove to open it. That possibly lets it warm up excessively up to 600+ degrees and could lead to premature failure. When I try to keep it at 400 degrees or less, I have not had a problem. I note that the warranty is 5-years for the stainless steel burners and 3-years for all other stainless steel parts.
John of Jamesville, NY

9/17/11Technically it was below one star, more in the negative. I purchased a 4-Burner with Side and Rear Sear Burners, as well as an oven and outside stove burner. I bought the grill in 2009 for my father as a Father's day present. As of 2010, only two of the burners were functioning due to the fact that the gas rails had completely rusted out and caught the whole left side of the grill on fire in a total blaze. It was so bad that I needed a fire extinguisher to put out the flames and then moved what food was left to the inside stove for cooking. Not only did the grill cost $1000.00, but they wanted $500.00 for replacement parts and would not warrant the replacement parts because they would be shipped from an outside source. I spent almost a month trying to get anyone to answer the phone at the warranty company, before just scrapping the whole grill and purchasing another grill by another manufacturer from another supplier. I will never by a grill from Home Depot or Charmglow again!
Aaron of Osprey, FL

9/14/11My husband and I purchased the "Gourmet Series" grill just about 4 years ago, when we moved into our new house. About 12 months after the purchase, the door & hinges fell off. About 6 to 8 months after that, both drawer faces fell off!Just about 6 months ago, the side drawer under the granite counter has started to give way. Being the holiday weekend, we pulled the grill out to have a BBQ and, lo and behold, my husband tells me that the grill is very broken! The gas burners inside have cracked and are completely unusable! I could understand if the grill was kept out in the elements and not under a covered area, which is the case with our grill, where it is exposed to harsh conditions. We paid $2,000 for this "long lasting, durable grill". That's just a crock! There is no one to talk to complain and try to get a resolution for the problem! Does this company not stand behind their product? Apparently not, if you are not able to contact a complaint/resolution center!
Dawn of Tampa, FL

9/6/11I bought this grill from Home Depot in 2006 and from the beginning, the middle knob was stuck and never worked! I wired around it using the other four burners but it never worked consistently. Finally, after opening up the grill, I noticed the complete insides of the grill is 100% disintegrated! I went to a friend's house, this past weekend, and she had the grill there also and lo and behold, just a piece of junk in their yard. It was unable to be used because it had been broken for years as well. I don't understand how the grill can be sold and so many people have problems with it and yet no recourse for all the money spent on it. I am so upset with Home Depot and Charmglow for thinking that I was getting a great product to ultimately be ripped off!
Lisa of Elk Grove, CA

9/5/11I bought a Charmglow 720-0304 grill at Home Depot, with the assurance of the salesman that it has the best quality in gas grills to be found. After a year of light use and very good care, things started to break and rust. Home Depot takes no responsibility for resolving any problems with Charmglow. When contacted, the manufacturer wants only to sell replacement parts at very high prices. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I was taught stainless steel does not rust. I now have a grill that is useless after paying too much for it. The replacement parts can't be replaced, because there is nothing left to secure them to! My deck is scorched and my house nearly caught fire. Is there a way to file a class action against both companies?
Brian of Myerstown, PA

9/4/11When I was reading this site, I noticed that I'm in the same boat as all of these folks. I also bought a gas grill from Home Depot which I paid over $600 and it has started to fall apart. The burners are now rusted and the sides disintegrated, pretty much gone. Can someone tell me what is Charmglow or Home Depot doing about this problem? Thank you.Note: Peter, I would like to be a part of whatever lawsuit you are planning.
cesar of lawndale, CA

9/1/11I too, bought a Charmglow grill and with very minimal usage, it has completely rusted out rendering it unsafe and unusable. The nobs has completely stopped functioning. This grill is really a piece of garbage.

8/24/11Charmglow Grill: I saw several posts about people who bought this product from Home Depot and found that after a year or two, it rusted and fell apart. Same thing happened to me. I am an attorney with 30 years litigation experience and would like to see if there are people who purchased this product who may want to join a class action case to make someone, other than the consumers, pay for the fraud involved in selling these grills.
Peter of Los Angeles, CA

8/13/11I purchased "Heavy Duty" Charmglow BBQ and within 12 months, it completely rusted out and fell apart.
Peter of Los Angeles, CA

8/13/11This is about Charmglow grill. In three years the whole inside could be vacuumed, that's how far the rust had devoured all the pipes, screws, burners. There was nothing left but powder.
E. of Chagrin Falls, OH

8/9/11This product and the support are the worse I have ever experienced. Based on all the other complaints and ratings of this product, I can't believe Charmglow or Home Depot are not trying to make good on all those who have spent good money for this grill.
Dean of Temecula, CA

8/6/11I can't even find a person or department to which I can make a complaint. Is this company still in business? Sites on the net are not at all helpful. Entire grille portion of this unit needs to be replaced. The unit is in a much larger unit that has brick trim and granite inserts. Can't get rid of it because it is too heavy (several hundred pounds) and it is behind the house.
Gary of Palm Coast, FL

8/5/11I brought a Charmglow stainless gas grill model 810-7440-5 about 4 years ago from Home Depot for about $400. After two years, the inside of the grill is completely disintegrated. The gas pipes are cracked and crumbled. I called Charmglow and they quickly sold me replacement parts. After I tried to install the replacement pieces, it quickly became evident that the inside of the grill was so destroyed there was no way to install it. I called Charmglow and they said to call Home Depot for service. I called Home Depot and they said call the manufacturer and treated me like I must have been ** for even asking Home Depot to help.
Luis of Dunellen, NJ

8/3/11I purchased a Charmglow Barbeque Grills and after 50 years of Charmglow being in the family, I will never buy another. It's a very bad product and there's zero customer support.
Dean of Temecula , CA

7/29/11Charmglow Model 810-8530-S gas grill is a piece of junk. Rust has made this thing unsafe and a filthy mess. I will avoid Charmglow and Brinkman products and I will recommend others to do the same. Shame on Home Depot for abetting in this consumer fraud.
Fred of Chesapeake, VA

7/25/11Spent over 500 for the charmglow "Stainless Steel" grill and burners. Junk from the outside to the inside. Grease drip pan weld broke, outside is rusting, grate completely desinigrated, bottom tray rusted to nothing, tune burners rusted out in the first 1.5 years, and the list goes on. I am so mad I paid this kind of money when I could have spent half or less the same amount on a "disposable" grill that would have lasted 3 times as long.
Shame on you Home DepotShame on you Charm GlowYou have no friends.

I bought my Charnglow back in late 2006, and in less than a year I noticed that the one of the burneres is cracked ont he side and flamies shooting out.I stopped using that burner and tried to work with the other two. It'll only took that summer for the other two burners to go bad as well. So all three burneres were bad after less than 50 uses.

7/14/11While looking for a new valve and hose connection for my grill I saw this site and now will vent my issue with my Charmglow 720-0036-hd05. Bought from Home Depot in May of 2006. Since then I have replaced all three burners, the rotissere never did work. the temp shot up to nearly 600 degrees and had to open the lid to cool off the grill. Gas valve leaks when the valve is on. flames have popped out of the bottom of the grill so I quit using it. Thought this would be my last grill to buy. So much for stainless steel. New I should have bought a Weber
Gary of Sahuarita, AZ

7/7/11I purchased a Charmglow 720-0396 Stainless Steel gas grill from Home Depot in July 2007 for $799.00. On June 25, 2011, the grill caught on fire, almost blowing up, beside my house. As I started taking the cover off, I noticed that the whole inside was rusted out; and the stainless burners (4/5) where broken; and all the screws were rusted out; and now, all the hoses were melted. I called Home Depot and they referred me to Nextgrill, who now owns Charmglow. Home Depot does not stand by their products they sell. All I wanted is to have something worked out. I do not expect a new grill for nothing. I will never shop at Home Depot again.
Jason of Hiliard, OH

6/27/11We purchase the Stainless Steel grill Model 720-0234 in 2007 and the burners are totally disintegrated. I sent in my warranty card and have never heard from Brinkman regarding any recalls. So much for Stainless and the $400 I spent to purchase it. We really do live in a disposable society. I bought this grill in hopes it would last a long time. The cheap ones last longer.
Brenda of Chino Valley, AZ

6/12/11I purchased a Charmglow Model 720-0396 from Home Depot. The rotisserie never really worked -- matter of fact, the first time we used it the door would not open and my husband got burned. The main burners, flame timers, and other parts are rusting. Home Depot does not sell the replacement parts but it does not really matter since there are no screws left to replace the parts. I knew I should have gone with a Weber but that Charmglow's "all stainless" grill would be a better deal. Less hassle.....WHAT A JOKE!!!! I have always been a Home Depot consumer and I can't not believe that they are selling a product that is defective.....Today, I was cleaning my back porch and kept smelling gas. I went over to the grill and thought that I had left the gas on but I did not. There was a hole in one of the burners that was putting out gas. Thank god I was outside and this did not catch fire.....
Carleen of Virginia Beach, VA

6/12/11I bought a Charmglow 720-0036-HD-05 about six years ago. I replaced the stainless still ??? burners every other year. The first year they sent me replacements parts because the grills was still on warranty, the second time I had to order the parts from home depot. I was about to order/ look for repacement parts when I saw other complaints. The only stainless still is the outer casing everything inside is rusted very badly
Wellington of Bowling Green, OH

6/11/11I bought a Charmglow 720-0036-HD-05 from Home Depot in 2006. Last summer I discovered that the burners and other components had rusted out although it was advertised as being 'stainless steel'. I contacted Charmglow / Home Depot and they were no help. How does stainless steel rust? It doesn't - Home Depot was either duped by their Chinese manufacturers or they knowlingly did false advertising. Either way, there should be a class action lawsuit. I didn't replace anything last year due to a household move. In looking through the internet to find parts just now I have found this site. Somebody please put together a class action lawsuit so we can get compensation!
Bill of Lithonia, GA

6/1/11Bought this grill three years ago. The first year, the ignition starter stopped working. The second year the regulator took a crap. Now I opened it up this year and oh my god, the dam thing is an eating rusted up mess. The screws are so bad I can't even replace the parts. What the heck! Total complete waste of 400.00 bucks. It even caught fire last year.
Eric of Troudale, OR

5/28/11I purchased a Charmglow 810-6320-B Stainless Grill. It was supposed to be of high quality and had planned for it to be a grill that would last 8-10 years (like my old Sunbeam), but in less than 4 years it has completely rusted out. The "stainless" side tables are all rusted and the burners and flare tents are rotted away; very, very poor quality. Home Depot says there is nothing they can do. Stay away from this brand and Home Depot commodity products in general.Replacement parts have cost me over $200 so far and climbing.
Steve of Newport, RI

5/22/11I bought a Charmglow from Home Depot two years ago and spent over $500 for it. I thought I was buying a quality product and chose to buy stainless steel to prevent rusting. I went to start up the grill and found out it was completely rusted out!! There is absolutely no reason for this to happen. I take very good care of the product and thought it would last us a long time. The quality of this product is very poor! I went to Home Depot last night with all my paperwork and was informed there was nothing they could do for me. I can't believe it! You spend hard-earned money on so-called quality products and all you get is a cheap imitation. I should have only spent $100 on a grill, at least I wouldn't mind if it rusted out after this time. I will not buy another grill from Home Depot or another Charmglow product.
Tara of Coventry, RI

  5/14/11
I thought the stainless steel Charmglow that I bought from the Home Depot in 2005 would be the last grill I would need to buy for a long time. This piece of junk is so badly rusted. It is un-usable. Everything is junk! The burner, bottom grate, shield and top grillall are just useless heap of rust. Is there anything that can be done to send me free replacement parts which would cost more than a whole new grill? Can I have them shipped or can I arrange to pickup a new one at the Concord, NH store? A loyal customer and employee of US Remodelers, THD's exclusive kitchen cabinet re-facing company

5/5/11On November 6th 2009, I purchased an electronic grill, Charmglow Gourmet 4 burners Electric Grill Model # 810-8640-s, priced $953.05 at Home Depot Store #6975, 2508 Skyline Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33914. Two weeks later, there was a problem with the grill. When plugged into the electric outlet, the light ignition to the left burner come on and stayed on until unplugged; the fire ignition does not shut off only when the electric cord was unplugged or disconnected. The grill had also an oven and a refrigerator that was unusable as well. We contacted Home Depot, who referred us to the manufacturer, The Brinkmann Corporation. On December 7th 2009, Jeff ** answered back and said that the three control box for the electric need to be exchanged or I should try to swap the grill out to another one. I contacted Home Depot for an exchange but was once again referred back to the Brinkmann Corporation who now referred back to Home Depot again. This went on for over a year up to November 16th 2010. After multiple phone calls, emails and letter to the Brinkmann Corporation, finally on November 16th 2010, I was told by the Brinkmann's representative, Jeff ** to dismount the control electric box from the grill and mail the control box to them as the only option. I asked then if Brinkmann would pay for the shipping and for a technician to uninstall and install the electric control box. Since then, there has not been any answer back, nor any control box has been shipped. I am a 65-year-old women and not a technician. As of December 2010 to January 2011, the grill wasn't working at all and have since then been staying in our garage. I purchased a new grill from Lowes.I bought the Grill at Home Depot and I consider it very unethical to be treated with such casualness by both the Home Depot and The Brinkmann Corporation and Home Depot was the one that sold me the grill. I request an exchanged grill, the grill repaired or my money in return. I think its time for both Home Depot and the Brinkmann Corporation to take the fully responsibility for their printed warranties on their products and I don't wish any other consumer go through all this frustration with letters, emails and phone calls for over a year without any resolution on this matter.I have saved all documentation, emails, and letters if needed. I would appreciate help in this matter.

I purchased a Charmglow model 810-8532-s gas grill about one year ago, I, like a lot of consumers who have posted to this site, am very disapointed with the quality and performance of this grill. The small spot welds that attach the side tables to the front failed in the first couple of weeks, a sign of things to come.
I clean and polish the stainless after every use and cover and store it in the garage when not in use and it is still showing heavy signs of rust after only one year. There have also been issues of it failing to ignite, and the gas regulator need to be replace already. I treated myself to a really nice Charmglow gas grill, and got burned! For the nearly $500 I spent on this grill and acc.
you would think I had purchased high end, quality equipment. Not the case at all. Charmglow use to be quality stuff, not anymore!
Dan of Silver Bay, MN

12/13/10Putting the cover on started the bbq, without us knowing so and almost burned our house down. Luckily, my wife went outside for something and caught the problem. It had melted. The knobs were melted but our house was intact, very dangerous product.

10/3/10We bought the stainless steel grill approximately 4 years ago. We wanted stainless so to prevent rusting. All 5 burners have rusted and basically disintegrated leaving the grill useless. A very poor quality for the $400.00+ we spent. I don't want to replace the burners because all the screws and insides are also rusted. Home Depot should know better than to carry such poor quality grills.

9/13/10I purchased a Charmglo Gas Grill from Home Depot about 1 year ago with extra tank, cover, etcetera at $700.00 in total. The controls on the front can be accidentally turned on by anyone walking by and just lightly brushing against them. It has happened twice with the cover on and once without. If the control turns to the ignition stop, the gas would have ignited, caught the cover on fire and burned down my house with my dogs inside. I showed the manager at Home Depot how easy it could happen and asked if there was a recall or repair that would fix this very dangerous problem. He told me someone would get back to me within 24 hours. A week later but there was no call. I went back to Home Depot and inquired about my problem. Prashant ****, the store's operation manager told me he had directed another employee to call me and said he would have the employee call me the next day. 1 week later still no response. I went back to store, talked to Prashant and asked him why he did not follow up on my complaint. He said he would talk to his boss and get back to me the next day. Surprise! But there was no call. I called him and he offered me $100.00 credit towards another grill with no explanation why he never responded to my complaints. He also said I should turn off the gas valve and that would solve the problem. I told him that his low-ball offer barely covered the 3 tanks of propane I had to replace and said it was insulting. He refused to be of any further help. I recommended that he talk to the manufacturer and let them know they might be looking at a serious legal problem and he said he could no longer talk to me because I mentioned legal'. I'm out with $700 and will never buy anything from a store that won't stand behind their products especially when notified of possible serious problems.

9/9/10I have a Charmglow Model 810-8532-S which caught fire on September 1, 2010, while barbequing. I extinguished the fire. On September 4, 2010, the unit caught fire a second time, this time without anyone barbequing. My son came upon it and extinguished the blaze. I have pictures of the damage which coincide with pictures on the internet with people that have experienced the exact same problem. As I was out of town.My gas grill was hooked up to a natural gas source which would have started a bigger fire. I will be contacting the Livermore Fire Department tomorrow to have a Fire Marshall investigate the fire.
Terry of Livermore, CA

9/7/10Purchased a Charmglow gas grill Model 720-0234 from home depot. Stainless steel is very low grade. Rust is a big factor with this product. Big problem: After using this grill for approximately 3-4 years, one afternoon I lit grill and allowed it to start heating up while preparing the chicken. I walked out to the grill and opened the lid and turned down the flame to low flame then began cleaning the surface.Suddenly, the grill made a noise (that sounded like a bottle rocket taking off. ) At that moment the entire grill engulfed into flames. There was no way to approach it to turn off the valve on the tank. Within a matter of a few seconds the flame stopped. I can only think that the tank outlet valve protected it preventing an explosion. When the fire stopped and the tank had cooled enough that I could close the valve I shut it off. The tank still had liquid in it maybe 2-4 inches. What I found was that the regulator had failed overheated and was literally coming apart. Fortunately, even though the unit was on a covered deck it only burned my screen on the screened in porch. This could have been much much worse. I took the regulator and hose to the home depot store and showed them the part. They did not seem that concerned. I found a replacement regulator on their shelf (I'm sure a universal part.) I recommended that the folks at HD warn consumers to replace the regulator every 2-3 years or so. I kept the failed part for awhile, but have since thrown it in the trash. Looking back, I am very fortunate. However, if this happens to others, they may not be so fortunate. Now I am faced with replacing the cheap burners at the tune of 38.00 each x 5. It will probably be cheaper in the long run to replace this POJ with a better product. You can be sure that I will not purchase another Charmglow ever again.

9/4/10I purchased a Charmglow, gourmet series, propane grill with refrigerator, side burner, warming drawer, overhead canopy with lights and storage. I have now had the grill for over one year and I cannot believe that you could produce a product that is so defective. I spent over $1200 on the grill and I am now a slave to it. It is almost totally rusted, the "steel" on the drawer pulls has peeled away, all of the screws and bolts are completely rusted. Every piece of stainless steel is pitted and rusted. This is an absolute disgrace. I must now spend 4-5 hours every week cleaning this horror, only to do it again the next week. You should seriously be ashamed to have your names on this product and to inflict such a badly manufactured on the consuming public.
Margie of Parkland, FL

8/22/10I bought a stainless Charmglow grill from Home Depot and need to let people know that it is a very unsafe product. The burners and collector boxes are so bad that they fall apart within 3 years. My grill broke apart while lighting it and flashed back. I will never own one again or shop at Home Depot until they stop selling the Charmglow brand.

8/18/10I was able to resolve my issues with Home Depot concerning my grill. They gave me adequate credit toward another grill and I am happy with them. If you have problems contact Home Depot's Corporate Customer Care Department.

8/3/10I purchased this grill on March 18th 2006 from Home Depot and I used it many times over the years. I went out to light the grill two weeks ago and had an awful time getting the three burners to light. I tried again this morning to see what the problem might be and it would not light completely on any burner and the center burner would not light at all. Upon investigation, I found that the burners (stainless steel) were rusted out and no individual slots remained, just one long slot was there. I found new parts online for $30.00 each and I also found out that replacing them will require removing the main head from the base and taking the head unit apart; like I want to spend a full day doing this and not getting a quality product when I finish. I also had blown back when lighting the grill in the past but attributed this to being too slow in getting it lit; now I believe it is just bad burners. What happened to Charmglow? They used to be one of the better gas grill producers around and a name you could trust. Thanks for letting me vent; got to go out and look for a new grill. I got a useless junk of stainless steel standing in the backyard.

7/25/10I purchase a Charmglow grill about 1 1/2 years ago, and now it will not light. The gas flow is good (3 different tanks, and bypassing the starter system with a direct spark, but it still does not light. I would never recommend this product to any person living in Florida, or any other state. Spending hundreds of dollars for a piece of garbage is just not right. This product should be taken off the market!

7/21/10I purchased a model 720 0230 Charmglow grill on May 8th 2006 and already replaced the burners on this grill when they rusted out over a year after I bought it. Trying to get in touch with anyone for the replacement parts was another story, but finally after probably six months, they did get back to me and like others had to pay for shipping on these replacement parts. The grill worked fine after the parts were put on but then the covers over the burners started rusting and then the bottom part under the burners just broke off.I feel like I was bilked into thinking that this was a stainless steel treasure as opposed to a grill bought at Wal-Mart but this is actually a pricey piece of a rusted fire trap. To me, our money was wasted after I talked my husband into buying a per say stainless steel grill, which is like everyone who has bought one, and found out that the casing is the only thing that is stainless steel. The only reason I had to complain again is that I was cooking non-fatty boneless and skinless chicken and the holes that are in the bottom plates let flames shoot up and had to turn the grill off because the inside was on fire, like others, I was lucky to be there so my house did not catch on fire. My biggest complaint about this grill or the name brand is that they are still selling them at Home Depot and people are still complaining about the poor workmanship involved. Also like others, I will have to pull out the old grill that we refurbished only once for the burners, and the grill has many, many years on it to use it for grilling until I could afford a better grill like a Weber, who stands by their name. The grill at the time cost $369.94 which four years ago was more than my husband wanted to spend. So to us, it was a bit of an expensive lesson learned.

7/19/10My Charmglow grill model 720-0036-HD-05 was caught on fire. It burned 2 front knobs and starter completely off. It left melted plastic on my wood deck and burned out internal wiring and left melted plastic on the stainless doors.

7/18/10I purchased a Charmglow Stainless Steel, Ceramic coated grill in May 2008. March of 2010, I noticed that the entire inside of the grill had rusted out. After calling customer service, I contacted Home Depot customer service. They sent an escalation email and I received a call from Shane Hall. I sent pictures of the grill and explained that since even the screws were rusted completely, the replacement parts they were offering weren't going to work. I then escalated the issue myself to the director of customer operations, Suzette ***. After much back and forth, they sent me an entire new grill (excluding the base). I can only suggest that you do the same as I did. Do not accept no for an answer. Keep calling and don't give up. If you are persistent, they will make it right!

7/12/10I have a Charmglow Grill bought from Home Depot in the summer of 2004. Within a month, the ball bearings fell out of two rollers making it near impossible to move. I complained, at Home Depot. They gave me the number to call for warranty parts. I should have known something was seriously wrong if the rollers did not even work. I bought the high end stainless steel model, thinking that if I paid a little more I would get quality. Wrong!Overheating, flash fires, bad igniters and knobs were common and I just lit the grill with butane lighter. The wheels finally fell apart in 2008, so I built a cart with good wheels in 2009, all the burners rusted out and I invested in replacement burners and igniters. Then on 7-8-2010 while cooking some chicken the temperature would not come down. I had the center burner off and the side burners at low temp. The temp shot straight to 600, 5 minutes after I closed the lid again. The chicken was engulfed in flames and then I heard hissing. I jumped in the pool because I thought it was going to blow up. The whole grill was a fireball. My wife ran and got the fire extinguisher and was going to call 911. I sprayed down the Charmglow grill with the fire retardant chemical. The fire went out but the tank was hot and still leaking. Everything from the rubber, plastic or electric was melted. The tank was still half full. I took it out while wearing welding gloves. It was very hot and it was still leaking. The valve had melted partially opened. Two days later it finally was empty. I am very thankful no one was hurt, but the Charmglow grill is a total loss. Can Home Depot help me?

7/11/10I bought a Charmglow Gas Grill from Home Depot in 2005. On 7/7/10, an engulfing fire erupted from the regulator and gas line, melting the safety valve cap and heating the propane gas tank. I brought the melted part to HD. The staff said they no longer carried the brand but would help to track down the manufacturer. I've been unsuccessful in reaching anyone. I have since discovered that the model: Charmglow 7200036HD05 was discontinued and had several similar safety concerns documented on the website. Due to the quick action of several visiting friends, water was poured and hosed onto the flames, the valve was closed and the gas tank cooled with water. It could have been a catastrophe.

7/9/10I purchased Charmglow 720-0234 from Home Depot approximately four years ago. Four of the 5 burners have rusted out, two broke off completely, and not all the igniters work. Home Depot doesn't carry the brand any longer, so I was shopping for replacement burners when I saw this. Is there further information available on the problems with this product? Thanks.

7/8/10I have a Charmglow Gas Grills Stainless model 720-0396, was happy with it for three years but now I have problems. The burner valves do not turn off and I have had to shut the gas off at the propane tank in order to stop the flow of gas. First it was only one burner, now it is three. This is a high end unit and this type of problem should never happen. Obviously there is a design defect and I am wondering if perhaps this unit has been recalled without my knowledge. No physical damage has happened but I am extremely hesitant to continue my use.

7/7/10This is the second time in 2 years that my grill ignited. The first time, Charmglow sent me replacement parts and we rebuilt the grill. But this time it was worse, everything melted! I have pictures that speak for themselves. My grill does not wok now. Everything is melted and I am out almost $2,000 for this grill that we have only had for about 2 years that ignited once before and was rebuilt with replacement parts.

7/6/10 Purchased Charmglow gas grill in May 2008. Only used about 8 times in 2 years. On June 26, 2010, was using the grill and had trouble maintaing temperature. While trying to stop the temperature from rising I tried to turn down the4 main burner controls on two burners. Much to my surprise the knobs came off in my hands. They melted and like many of you I will not use this product again. Very dangerous.

6/28/10 On May 28, 2010, our Charmglow BBQ (model #810-7310-s serial #7310-s-0703-y079201) caught on fire on our back deck. We bought it on Labor Day in 2008 and I should have returned it when I found out it was produced by the same company that brought us that wonderful Brinkman BBQ (which I learned the hard way that Brinkman is an awful company to deal with because of another BBQ I owned and had a tremendous amount of problems with.) After the fire, we noticed that the burners and burner covers were completely rusted away. Brinkman quality! It cost us a lot for the Charmglow and now the Brinkman company has stolen more money from our family for a worthless product. I wish we could sue and get my money back and our government should do something about this company before someone gets hurt! I have never owned a Weber but I will now. The BBQ is worthless now because of the fire. Scared my wife because of the extent of the fire and the close proximately to our children and house.

Purchased a Charmglow Heavy-Duty Gas Grill Model# 810-8905-S @ Home Depot on 09/03/08. On 06/21/10. I was using the grill to grill up (6) burgers for the family. Using 2 out of the 3 burners on med. heat temp. About 3/4 of the way through the cooking process, major flames have engulfed the burgers. Moved burgers to the in- direct side of grill. Fire still uncontrollable. Tried to turn both gas burner knobs to off position, but knobs were spinning freely. Seconds later the knobs melted off, handle to smoker box melted off and the outer paint towards center was blistering under the cover handle. I then opened the door where the propane tank is stored and noticed the paint was melting there to. I told my 3 kids to go in the house quick because when I touched the propane tank it was very hot to the touch. Possible explosion danger. I quickly turned the propane knob to the off position, disconnected the hose and removed the tank from unit to a cool spot in the backyard. I love to barbeque, it's a passion of mine. I take care of all my equipment and tools to it's fullest. The grill is always covered when not in use. Very surprised that this event has occurred for an expensive priced grill that I thought would bring me many years of great use. Thinking now on what really could of happened if I did not respond fast enough on the removal of propane tank and clearing the kid's to a safer environment. The Tank could of possibly reached a flash point temperature. Walked away with a minor burn on finger. Nobody else was hurt. Will not use this grill because of potential recurrence.

6/23/10 My daughters bought the Charglow mdl#8500, for me on fathers day in 2008. Within 1 1/2 yrs, 2 of the 5 burners would not work. I continued to use the grill using the other 3 burners. Recently I decided to look into replacing the burners, only to find out Home Depot doesn't sell that brand anymore due to numerous reports of problems. Grilling and taking care of a grill is not that difficult a task. I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy any Charmglow product ever again. And I will research purchase alot better. EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED!!

6/19/10 Purchased a charmglo stainless steel bar-b-que grill - used often taken great care of covered when not in use - rusted out burners and burner guards - replaced with parts that were recommended $29.95 ea (five of them) only to have the grill not get any hotter now than 275 degrees - no help from customer service - still waiting for call back - $500.00 grill very poor customer service and product reliability! Grade = Fail! $660.23 invested one year of use - very poor performance - bogus replacement parts - suck the customer for more wasted money!

6/16/10 I purchased my Sharmglow 810-7500-S about 2 years ago. I assembled then tried to move it. the wheels broke or better yet crumbled. Now all my burners and heat plates are rusted through and rotted. I do not have the $300.00 it would take to replace all the parts wrong with it. It would be cheaper to purchase another grill.I very dissapointed.I paid over $400.00 almost $500.00

6/15/10 Purchased Charmglow model 720-0036-HD-05 from Home Depot as Father's Day gift. Propane hose leaked and the grill caught on fire with flames shooting out. My husband was holding our 2 yr old daughter nearby when it happened. I discovered that there was a recall and the company is sending a retrofit kit and regulator. My grill is half black and I spent a lot of money on this. The grill has black marks that cannot be cleaned off. Had to get a new propane tank, regulator/hose, and my deck has burn marks on it. Could have harmed my 2 yr old if my husband had not picked her up. This grill is very dangerous.

6/10/10 After only a couple of years, the heat grates and the pipes the gas is distributed from rusted to nothing. I hardley used the grill. I went to the web site to order replacements and what they sent me doesnt even fit. Not even close to what they said fots that model #. I have been trying for a week for an RA# which is required but they always say "give your # and we will call you back" Which never happens or the 1 time it did was the following day when I was working. This is the worst customer service ever and now since the grill parts are about toast, i guess I am stuck scrapping it if I cant get parts. I'll never bye Brinkmann again.

6/9/10 I have a four year old (by serial No.) Charmglow 720-0234 from Home Depot that the burners have blown out on. I contacted the 866 number and talked to the rep about the parts being recalled. He advised that there was NO RECALL except that the burners did have a five year warranty on them. He is shipping the replacements for the cost of shipping $16.49 Thanks for the info helping me out.

6/7/10 Bought a Charmglow Gas Grill #810-7440-S, a year ago... never outside or in the rain.. 4 Gas Burners and 4 drip plates are all rusted out .. I feel that this should not have happened and they should replace these. This grill was not cheap and I am VERY UPSET.

6/7/10 I bought the grill from Home Depot in August 2004. Within a week the electronic starter stopped working. Now virtually all of the burner parts are rusted out. The cabinet is made of stainless steel, but everything else is non-stainless, which makes no sense!

6/7/10 Bought a Charmglow 'stainless' multi-burner gas grill, summer 2008. I got on here hunting for parts because I bought the grill at Home Depot and they don't sell them now. The interior of the grill is pretty much RUSTED out. I know how to use a grill and clean a grill. I've never had one with this extent of rust and damage within such a short time. The ignighter only works on the main burner. The others have to be lit using a long lighter. Temperature gauge stopped working after the first few months. The side burner basically has no control over flame level - even though it has the Low to High knob - it has never really worked properly. Same with burners within the grill. If you have them set on anything but LOW - expect burnt (I mean CHARRED) food! This is a grill that needs a CONSTANT eye watching over it at ALL TIMES! I always keep my grill covered when cooled and not in use so the outside of the grill still looks pretty decent. Looks are deceiving! The inside is just a DISASTER! I'm sickened when I think about the money I spent for this below standards procuct. They say follow your gut... I hesitated when I first considered buying it because I wasn't familiar with the name. Should've listened to the instinctive gut thoughts. NEXT TIME - Back to WEBER! I'm glad everyone has chosen to post the issues they've had. It makes us know that we aren't an isolated incident or that we just happened to buy a "coincidental lemon" and therefore we KNOW not to buy their products anymore. Thought I was spending money on a product that would last for many years to come. In reality - I've only had it 2 years and either need to spend as much in parts or purchase a new grill. WHAT A SHAM! VERY DISAPPOINTED AND VERY ANGRY! Due to the economy right now - I don't really have the money for either. Now what - be without a grill? UGH! Hate the thought!

6/7/10 Bought a charmglow gourmet series grill around hurricane season (oct of 2009). It never heated right. I don't use a grill much and I bought it just for the storm season, so I thought it was just me. I never used the oven feature. I only tried to use one part of the grill, and it never got hot so I always brought the meal inside to finish preparation. Then, on the fourth attempted use, and this time by my college aged kids and while I wasn't at home, they called to report that the grill knob burst into flames and burned up. I have photos. This is a BAD product.

6/6/10 How much space do you need to say this grill is a piece of crap. Just turned 2 years old and the burners are completely rotted through and the igniter no longer works. It will cost more to replace the parts than to purchase another brand when they go on sale. I also had trouble regulating the flow of propane from day one. Should have taken the thing back at first sign of trouble. Guess it took more space than I thought to say this grill is a piece of crap. Buyer beware!! You will get absolutely no help from the mfg and I can guarantee you that I will never buy another Charmglow product.

6/2/10 My family purchased for our lake place a Charmglow 720-0234 Stainless steel burners and grates ($400.00 value or so I thought). We wanted a grill that would last us a long time. Now after using for only two short seasons (stored inside) when we went to use it this past Memorial Day weekend we discovered 4 of the 5 stainless steel burners were no good. We had to borrow the neighbors grill. Now that I think back I realize it didn't cook correctly from the start. I stopped at Home Depot tonight to purchase parts, didnt find any nor did I find any Charmglow grills on their floor, maybe they have stopped selling the junk. I then went on line to purchase replacement parts which I found to be very expensive parts. Glad I read all the consumers complaints tonight. Now, instead I will be purchasing a new Weber grill.

6/1/10 Purchased a Charmglo gas grill at Home Depot costing approx. $400. This grill has never worked properly. Will burn up food in a matter of minutes as you cannot regulate the heat. The last time I used it, it was extremely hot even after shut off and the heat remained at 500 degrees. It seems the knobs had melted and would not let me shut the grill down. Had to reach under and shut the tank off which was also extremely hot. Cannot use this again for fear of fire hazard. Model 810-7440-S. May 30, 2010

6/1/10 Purchased my Charmglow gas grill at Home Depot in 2008. The name Charmglow meant to me a good product. Boy was I surprised. The wheel fell off. It has rusted almost to the point that it won't be useable much longer. Paid over $300. Thought I was getting the best for my money. Also I have purchased three Charmglow grill covers. All have ripped and faded after only one summer. No more Charmglow anything for me.

5/31/10 I bought a Charmglow grill model # 810-7440-S from Home Depot in August of 2007 - yesterday the front control panel caught on fire and melted the plastic inside the knobs so the grill could not be turned off except by reaching underneath while it was on fire to shut the newly filled propane tank off - even after the tank was shut off the control panel continued to burn and had to be extinguished with water. We avoided a big catastrophe by seconds. Given all the complaints about this grill and the obvious danger of using one there should be a class action lawsuit.

5/31/10 I bought model #720-0396 grill in Sept. 07. Didn't even start to use til May 08. Just started it May 10 and the burners have large holes in them. They were spewing flames. All the internal parts are rusting away. Two gas valves have failed and one looks to have been burning. Company says no warranty. Will need to junk grill. Lucky no one was hurt. Where is the government? Waiting for someone to be disfigured by the flames. Intend to contact my congressman and National Safety Commission.

5/31/10 While using the rotissere on my Charmglow Grill it stopped working. You can hear the motor turning but the shaft is not rotating. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I returned the rotissere motor to Home Depot and they replaced it from another grill in stock. No damage other then to our taste buds. We were looking forward to a nice rotissere chicken but now have to settle for a straight old roasted chicken instead.

5/30/10 I purchased an expensive charmglow grill,(top of the line, supposed to last for a long time), two years later and only a hand full of uses it is totally rusted out. the guts are useless. two valves won't turn, three out of five burners have cracked and fallen apart, and some metal parts which are fixed to the grill and are supposed to guide the gas from burner to burner are totally off the mounts (broken). This porduct is a total piece of crap and home depot should do something about making these people at charm glow compensate us the consumers.

5/29/10 Bought Charmglow BBQ for about $300.00 from Home Depot and a year later all the burners are cracked and useless. Replacement parts cost more than BBQ is woth plus why throw good money after bad! I will never buy another charmglow or BBQ from Home Depot. My repvious BBQ was from Sears and lasted for years w/o problem. Guess Im going back to Sears. BBQ is usless-loss of $300.00 value. Now I have to pay to take it to the dump!

5/29/10 I spent around $300.00 for a grill made by charmglow about two years ago.from the home depot store on airport highway in toledo, oh. the third time I used the grill, i had four ribeye steaks about 1.5 to2" thick ready to throw on after i brought it up to my temp. (350-375),turndown,add steaks, cook 6-7min,flip,cook 9min.eat. NO, turn down, add steaks, grill climbs to 750!! in a matter of me going into the house for maybe 2-3 min. called got run around from home depot and charm glow. used grill a few times here and there with less expensive food tried to get the hang of the grill.(I do know how to cook, and grill)I can't remember if it was a couple of pork loins or ribs, but about a month or two later, same thing, all good, go in the house for a few min., come back out to 725-750 and climbing. Another ruined dinner times three kids and my wife. called home depot they said thier was a few people that have called with simulair problems. said it seemed to stem from an orfice on the side burner causing back pressure. I guess I was just wondering if their was a recall on this junk grill. I have'nt had a problem with the eccess heat, the side burner orfice may have rusted shut, along with the rest of the supposed (stainless steel) grill wich is maybe 1/3 sainless if not less combined with carbon steel parts and hardware placed at all points were moisture will be present. but dont fret, THEY will sell you THIER parts at a fair price$$$$$ to replace them.

5/25/10 I to was looking for replacement parts for my CharmGlow gas grill, and found this website. My complaint is the same as many others. I thought buying stainless steel, and porcelin grills that I would get many years of service from this grill. I purchased it 5 years ago, but haven't used it very much. The heat plates are rusted out, the porcelin grills are rusted out, some of the wheels stopped turning long ago.(Drag it around now.) Minimum replacement parts would cost half as much as a new one. Will not purchase this brand again. Used to have the same service out of aluminum grills with steel components.

I called and told them that my Charmglow Grill was leaking propane and ever since it was new I had a problem igniting it. Propane was constantly leaking. the gaskets between the knob and the valves were over compressed causing it to leak. My mechanic found that out yesterday when he took it apart. The grill is about 4 years old but I have only used it about 10 times if that because it was a problem igniting it! This grill [is bad]. it is a piece of junk and I would not let my dog use it! When I called the # 866- the lady (Tisha) told that the warranty had already expired. it is a good thing that nobody was hurt and it did not blew up! Please folks do not buy this Charmglow Grill. They wont stand behind it! I bought mine at Home Depot. Do you think that they would do anything about it? First of all they should no longer carry it and after take care of that they sold me...a piece of garbage!

5/21/10 the wheels are to small cant move it anywhere without it tipping over, does not come with a good cover for it, the insides rust is it safe for your food on the grill. like the grill just needs some extras for what you pay for.

5/18/10 I bought a Charmglow stainless steel, 3 burner with side warmer, model 6320 about 4 years ago. I got 2 years of use out of the factory burner tubes, the gas manifold, and the burner covers. I replaced them, and now they are rusted out completely again...another $120 to repair. This grill is used quite a bit, but is cleaned and covered everytime I cook. I don't think I will buy replacement parts this time around. I wish there were cast iron or bronze hot parts available, as I do like the grill. Gonna look at other higher end brands...

5/17/10 Our community purchased a Charmglow commercial series dual fuel gas grill, model 463 268 107. We used it this week for a cookout. We had the grill on for about 2 hours at low temp to cook hot dogs and hamburgers. When we tried to turn off the grill, two of the control knobs had melted inside. Really wonder about why this should happen. We have to replace the knobs on the grill. However, we are concerned that it will continue to happen when we use the grill again.

5/17/10 Purchased a Charmglow Gas Grill Model 720-0234 The Grill is stored inside and cleaned after each use. The exterior has rusted within the first summer of use. All burners are rusted out after 1 year along with the heat shields. Purchased the Grill from Home Depot.

5/16/10 bought my grill about 3 years ago for fathers day. S code 810-7440 and kept it clean and covered the whole time I used it. Then the inside burners totally gave out, cracked and is now a complete hazard. This should not have happened. Replacement parts are $120 to fix... which is pretty hefty for a 3 year old grill that I paid $500 for. I plan to call 1-866- to see if they will replace the parts for free. Cost of replacement parts doesn't justify getting it fixed. Not to mention the parts are defective.

5/16/10 I purchased the Charmglow 8550 gas grille last summer. I have used this grill approximately 20 times. This spring, when I went to light the grille, two burners had burned out. Fire was shooting out the end of the burners.

5/15/10 I received a Charmglow grille for Christmas two Christmases again. After only 16 months the grille inside where the burners are located has completly rusted out and is useless. THis is really rediculous that this grille did not last even a year and a half. I am trying to contact Charmglow to try and get some compensation.

5/12/10 Purchased a Charmglow 720-0234 and had burners blow out just like many other have. After reading similar complaints (specifically Mark of Muskego WI) I too called the representative at Nexgrill and explained my problem. They have agreed that the burners are on a recall and will replace for the shipping and handling fee of $16.49. Extremely nice and professional service representative. Just want to thank you for the information, saved me about $100. With the blow out of the burners this is an extreme safety hazard.

5/6/10 I was searching for parts on the internet for my Charmglow propane gas grille, model 720-0304, when I came across all these complaints. Now I want to express my experience. My grille was purchased 4 - 5 years ago as a fathers day gift. During this time we haven't used this grille for approx. 1 1/2 years. Within 3 years from its purchase the following had to be replaced; stainless steel cooking grid (rusted), several gas tubes (rusted), The plate under the gas tubes (rusted), the plates between the grille and gas tubes (rusted), the gas regulator (making weird noise when in use). Our usage of this grille, before it started to fall apart and became a burden, was 3 - 4 times a month. That's not alot. What a disappointment. I was happy at first that my gift was of the stainless steel type, not realizing the very poor quality of product. As of today (after approx. 6 months of non use) I just purchased universal replacement cooking grids (porcelain) and preparing to utilize this thing one more time. After reading about Charmglow I feel my grille cover is worth more than the grille.

5/2/10 Purchased a charglow gas grill model # 720 0036 HD 05, serial # SH-JE 017569. Used it about 4 times and was never able to control the heat. Now I know why. Two out of 3 tube burners completely rusted through and the third is almost gone. Huge gas leaks when I tried to light it. Terrible safety hazard. The only economical damage is I'm out the money spent on the junk grill and how ever much it'll cost me to have it hauled away, plus the cost of new grill.
